We know that you want to be kept up to speed on print trends and what’s hot in the marketing and print world! As we have our hands in thousands of print projects, we tend to notice trends emerge and keep a pulse on what’s hot so we can guide our clients as they look to enhance their projects. One trend that we are loving at the moment is wood textures on printed pieces. Not the wood you can feel, but that you can see.
When clients are looking to elevate their printed piece, but are not looking to increase their budget for an upscale finished look such as heavier paper, increased size or die-cutting, one easy and budget-friendly way to kick it up a notch is to print a texture on the paper through imagery and the background. We’ve been seeing more and more clients lean towards printing a wood texture on their pieces for an earthy, gritty, natural, eco-friendly feel to the piece that adds a lot of value by making it stand out instead of another plain backdrop.
Here are a few of our favorite pieces:
Wild Apple Homes: When this home building company was designing stationary that included a folder, envelope and paper, they wanted to bring a textural element into the final piece. A nice way to do that was to print the wood texture in black and white on several of the pieces, giving it a little bit of an edge while bringing in an aspect of the building industry and showcasing their brand.
Norweta Row: When this upscale residential community was developing a postcard and wanted to make it stand out to their target demographic and provide a sense of the community, they printed the wood grain on the back of the postcard for a rougher, textural feel. We think the results are pretty outstanding!
